My Youtube Channel: "Building_Bridges"After 4 months of working on this project, I have had over 200 interviews with people from 34 countries and 35 different states. The topics of interviews have ranged from talking about family and friends, school and cultural differences to abuse, neglect, and looking back on difficult memories and reflecting on how they've processed those experiences.
I love talking to strangers and hearing their perspectives. It's difficult to not judge a book by it's cover, but we all come from such different backgrounds, from an infinite number of experiences. We are so much more complex than labels and judgements of each other. By listening deeply and intimately, we can learn how to connect more genuinely and learn from each other in a much more meaningful way. |
This channel is a social experiment/art piece that began in the midst of an unprecedented time of polarization, miscommunication and fear in the United States and around the world. Established 3 months into the COVID pandemic and 2 weeks after the George Floyd murder, Building Bridges has emerged as a social art piece intended to explore a world of different perspectives and bring us closer together through listening, questioning, and empathy.
The mission of Building Bridges is to search out people from different circumstances to discuss their experiences, to offer a place for their opinions that is nonjudgmental, rhetorically rigorous, and available for others to gain more perspective to their own understanding. I wish to include people from every country, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, personality and socioeconomic standing. Any and all beliefs are welcome. This is a place to learn patience, listening and understanding. |
